Just some random ones off the top of my head I own

Raiden - I've had this game since I was like 12 or something, and I've never seen the 5th level, and i'm pretty damn good at shooters. Once you die once, your basically f*cked.

Legendary Axe - Between the limited continues, the 8 billion Castlevania-esque "jump & die" scenarios set up, and the fact that it's actually quite a long game for its breed, I just never ever finished this. I recall getting the full powered axe a small handful of times though.

China Warrior - I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. Another one of the first games I owned, every 6 months or so I come back and try to beat this after trying daily for years, and about the only time I ever see the Cave level, is when I do everything else perfect and get to the bosses prior to this level with like 10 life bars heh. The bosses go from retardedly easy to ya can't hit em to save your life. I must be missing something.

Yeah- there's a way to cheese every single one of those bosses- even the drunken master- once you figure it out this game is a total cakewalk.

Is there a write up somewhere on these guys? If I could go downstairs and stomp that third sissy in the blue kimono jumpsuit without getting my ass handed to me, I'd dance a jig in public heh

I don't know if there is- but there should be.  It's too many guys to remember off the back of your head.  I did it exhaustively by trial and error a few weeks back- then recently had a friend over playing it and I couldn't remember how I cheesed half of them.

I remember a bunch of the different techniques- though not for any specific boss-
some are beat by constantly moving forward and holding down the punch on turbo- some the same only using the kick, some are beat by standing still and holding down the attack buttons on turbo, some are beat by standing still and waiting for them to move in and then attacking- some are beaten by waiting for them to move quickly back and then in and then hitting them- some are beaten by you moving quickly back and then in and then hitting them- at least iirc.

Sinistron/Violent Soldier
Tricky Kick
Jimmu Denshou
Altered Beast
Image Fight
Genpei Toumaden
SideArms
Victory Run
Deep Blue
Super Star Soldier

I had to reach a bit to get to ten.  These aren't necessarily in any order, but Sinistron at the top seems right.

I was on the fence when it came to including Genpei Toumaden.  It's "hard" because of all it puts you through with its penalty zones, horrid mechanics, and warps back to earlier levels (so basically, for all the wrong reasons).  Most of the others are what I'd consider "good challenges," although a few of them certainly have their cheap spots.

I haven't played PCE Tatsujin yet, hence its omission.  And Raiden probably deserves a spot, but technically, I've played only Super Raiden, so I left the chip off.

We should do lists for the CDs, too.

Yo' Bro - Is it possible to beat that idiotic f*cking Amoeba board?  Even on easy???  This game blows.

Back in the day, I got this game (for free) and wasn't too fond of it. Still, I tried to beat the bastard, but I got totally stuck at one of the levels. Beehives? Was it the beehives? I can't remember, but damn, I couldn't believe that goofy game stopped me cold.

Back then, when Zombies at my Neighbors was a popular title, I likened Yo' Bro to Zombies. Yo' Bro isn't nearly as endearing, but, hey, I was trying to find a reason to keep playing the game :).

Esteban- the beehives are pretty difficult- is that before or after the "lighters" stage (another tough one)?  However the amoebas board- No matter where you are on the map- the amoebas all over are multiplying- not even from their generators- just wherever they are oozing along.  then when you shoot them (IIRC) they multiply as well.  It's definitely a cruel joke- like waiting outside in the freezing cold and getting a bucket of piss dumped on you.
I can't remember! But, I vaguely remember an amoeba stage... or is it wishful thinking? It's been too damn long. I wish the game allowed you to OPT-OUT of the Beach Boys tunes and listen to some original stuff as well (even if it was just PSG renditions of Bach or something...)

:)

I'm not joking.

Legendary Axe is really tough for me because I always turn it off when I die the first time.  I just don't like losing all of that power and becoming extraordinarily weak to the point of being nearly ineffective, so when I die it's time for a different game.
I do the same thing with Raiden
