Boy Scout tragedy
« on: June 12, 2008, 04:42:56 AM »
Four scouts killed in tornado.  :(

Damn you, mother nature!  Rather sad, though it's a good story about the surviving scouts using their training to aid the injured.

Damn you, mother nature!

the sad thing is that it's all made up by the humans! it mostly just hits the wrong people, as usually!

that happened not too far from me. it's been pretty much the only story on the local news since last night.

it was kind of confusing, because the reported number of kids present, the number injured, and the number killed kept changing.

but yeah, it sucks.

Turns out most of the kids injured and killed were indoors - the chimney of their building collapsed inwards.

Staying indoors is not always safest.

What I hear from a Scoutmaster that was there for the aftermath, is that the collapse was caused by one of the adult's trucks.  The tornado picked it up, threw it into the end of the cabin (the chimney), and set it back down about 50 yards away.
