I have an extra docking platform without a CD system. Windancer, could you PM with that info on where to get the white CD drive?

I already purchased two from that place and they don't work with the turbo.I had to do a laser transplant to get my old drive working and it was a pain in the butt. so I looking for only turbo cd drives. thanks anyway

Yes,there is something about the white drives, extra wires and crap added on the pcb that seem to keep it from working like  a normal tgcd discman. There may be a way to fix it,but as is they are best for spare parts to revive old non-working drives.

I don't think so. the pc engine drive and turbo grafx cd drive are the same I believe. The CDR-35d drive is for an old NEC computer and is not designed to work with the pc engine or turbo grafx docking unit, although it will connect and pass audio, it will not pass data to the pc engine/TG-16

Oh well I was thinking of getting one for the SuperGrafx I just bought. Good thing when I got my region mods done on my DUO and DUO-RX I installed new lasers so they should last a while. It would be nice to have one for my Super Grafx so I would only need one PC Engine plugged in at a time.

Just get a Super CD-Rom 2 unit for your Supergrafx. There seems to be a issue with using a briefcase unit and a RAU-30 with the SGFX. I def see  a problem with Art of Fighting,it freezes up in the loading spots.

Yea it is gonna be a few as I will have to buy an Arcade card etc. BTW what all do I need? The docking station I know and a System card, that is it right?? And if I get the Arcade Card I don't need any other card correct?

AoF seems particularly finicky.  The freezing (most of the times a temporary halt, but a full-on stall once in a while) also happened with my former SGX + SCD-ROM2 setup, as well as my Duo setups.  Others in this forum also have had similar problems with AoF.

If you have the SCD-ROM2 system, the Arcade Card Duo (or the more expensive Pro, if you choose to do so), will allow you to play everything in the PCE realm, minus the US HuCard games.

If you have go the RAU-30 + the CD-ROM2 Briefcase unit, you'll HAVE to have the Arcade Card Pro.  I wouldn't recommend this route anyway if you already have a Duo.

You can see pictures of these setups on this thread:

A full on stall would be due to a faulty laser or gears needing relube on a Super Cd Rom 2,unless the disc is just scratched causing a issue. The only time I ever have a problem with Art of Fighting is when the RAU-30 + Briefcase is being involved with the SuperGrafx. If I just play the game on either the Super Cd Rom 2 with it,or my briefcase unit with a Coregrafx,ect...I have no issues. The only Duo I have seen the game run on is Quoths Duo-RX. No issues there either.
