Hey Everyone,

I'm new here, I just moved and opened up some old boxes and low and behold my turbo express. I'm going to play this thing I thought. It had sat in a box with batteries removed for about 9 months- 1 year. When I tried to boot it up there was nothing, it has power, the screen "turns on" you can see the backlight turning on. But no boot up, no sound so I imagine the games aren't booting at all.

I looked around here and saw a few posts about dead screens, or dead circuits that power the screen but I'm not even hearing the game start, do I have a dead system, dead screen, is it that single dead circuit at the top of the board I've been reading about? I would love to get this thing back up and running again. I'm in Southern California, does anyone know any places or people of a reputable nature that could/ would/ will repair it? I'm very hesitant about just sending it to an address out of state without a good recommendation or experience.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Colter, welcome to PCFX  :P

If your Express backlight is working (the screen turns white when you power it on) but you have no audio and video, then it sounds like faulty capacitors.

It's a pretty common problem and, as you mentioned, is documented here in the forums.

There could be someone much closer then myself, but I can repair it if you'd like. I'm in MA. Here's a link to find out some more about my reputation/some of the work I do: http://gametz.com/user/platinumfungi.html
