Couple of questions about a couple of games
« on: March 24, 2009, 03:00:44 PM »
It looks like this is my first post, but I posted a few times as Kenshi. Somehow I lost access to that account. Anyway, I've had the Turbografx bug again lately and have been spending more money than I should on games. I threw down a nice wad on Chi no Rondo and several other games. Then, realizing I needed a six-button controller for the fighting games which isn't available for the Turbografx 16/CD, I bought a PC Engine Duo-R. After I get it modded, I can probably sell the old system, the converter, and Arcade Pro card and make my money back and then some. But on to my questions...

I've bought several Japanese games lately. I know little Japanese so the instruction manuals don't help much. First question is about Prince of Persia. I think this is a game I could get into, but I keep having trouble with the fights. They usually end well, but occasionally the guy will sheath his sword and get impelled. All I'm doing is pressing I repeatedly and pressing different directions. I don't have time to experiment to figure out what causes him to sheath his sword so I can quit doing it. Anyone know what it is?

Second question is about Bomberman 94. All of the dinosaurs have pretty obvious special abilities... except for the pink one. All it seems to do when you press II is bark. Is there any purpose to this beyond looking like an idiot?

I haven't played PoP in awhile, but from what I remember you can only do 2 things with the sword: Stab (button II) or Block (UP on the D-pad). I believe pressing DOWN puts the sword away. On either the SNES or Turbo version (can't remember which) you had to actually put your sword away during one particular fight late in the game.

As you've probably learned already, one hit will kill you if your sword isn't out.

That's probably it. I'd press different directions thinking it would do different attacks, like high and low. I bet he usually didn't put it up because I was pressing down at the same time as I, but when I did it a little before, he'd put it up and get impaled. I'll give it another try.

So how about Bomberman?

The pink kangaroo's special ability is to dance which is useless except for taunting your opponents. All the kangaroos provide you with 'an extra life' so to speak.

Page 11 has the abilities of the various Louie kangaroos.

Purple = Jump
Blue = Bomb punt
Yellow = Block kick
Pink = Dance

The pink Louie is very good at taking a hit of damage for you, acting as 'extra health' or 'armor', however you want to view it. The 'dance' doesn't do anything useful.

Edit: sorry for the repeat, Hoobs typed his while i was working on mine. (yeah it took a while hehe) Anyway you got it from two sources!
