So I played Gunboat yesterday
« on: June 04, 2015, 05:46:08 AM »
I wish I can unplay it  :?
Is there something that I am missing or is it just a horrible game.
Took me like 5 minutes before getting to any action.

What are your thoughts?

Read the Brothers Duomazov review.

Be sure you read the directions. You use the turbo switches.

Most folks complain about this game, but they don't spend any time learning how to play it.

I think Punch(?) made us smile when he created a "High Score" thread for this game (or was it Falcon?).

I have yet to really give this game a chance. My initial reaction was based on my ignorance. Ha!

I have played this game but had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

I just sat there, did nothing for a bit then turned it off. Guess I should have read the manual or a guide on how to play.

Haven't played it in a long time, but I remember having fun shooting stuff. I look to pick it up again sometime.
It's like King of Casino. If you have 15 or 20 minutes to kill, turn it on, play for a bit, then walk away.

It's one of those games that you either like, or you just make fun of.   It's a slowgoing, boringish white devil shooter

The game is not that good even on a more capable machine, so whatever.

This thread title cracks me up!  Sounds so ominous.  As a non-sequitur: I have not played a bunch of Gunboat either, but I do wonder if it's not just that it was wrong for the primary demographic of the TG-16.  Same goes for Falcon.  I'm sure plenty of people loved playing these games on home computers, where you would find a lot of simulation fans to account for it's existence.  But I bet most kids with a TG-16 just rejected it outright to choose something with a more exciting theme.

You are absolutely correct: these two computer ports did not win over many kids.

This. And yes it is a horrible game.

Agreed.  Even if it were a perfect port, equal or superior to any contemporary pc flight simulator, it'd still be a snorefest to the average OBEYer.

I agree, wrong demographic. I have no need for this type/style of game on a console.
