Has a Turbo Express ever been modded with a better screen?
« on: August 19, 2005, 05:28:12 PM »
Hi all, I'm new here so please excuse my ignorance.  I tried a search but didn't see anything on this issue.

I have a TE that I barely use, because I didn't want to break it, and preserve it for when my newborn is older and can appreciate it.   I have a problem, although I do not have burned pixels, the screen takes a long time to come on.  As if it needs to "warm up".

The question is, has anyone ever attempted to mod a TE with, let's say the Top screen of a Nintendo DS?  I think it would be a great way of having a better screen.

Any comments are welcome, thanks all

I don't think that's normal, but I've never owned one so I don't know for sure. What I do know though is that its screen was way ahead of its time and that LCD screens of present day aren't a whole lot better, if at all...I don't think anyone has tried modding one with a new screen though...if anyone would try this, it'd be D-Lite. :D

True, the screen still holds up pretty well even today, which other portables of the time can't claim. You might e-mail TZD. com or retrogames.com and ask them about your screen needing to "warm up" as you say. Mine comes right on like it should.
