Dang. You guys got me there. I guess I deserve it since I slandered all over your Xmas time festivities. I stand by what I said, but I'll take my punishment and consider it fair.

I hope the trend on this forum doesn't reflect real life. The dominance of fake trees is like the death of 2D fighters and manual transmissions. I guess its the way the world is heading...but I don't have to like it.

BTW, as if the Bush/Cheney era wasn't proof enough that irony is dead, I was at the store today and saw that they are continuing to manufacture the most "for gits only" item I've seen since...since I saw it at the store last year: a fake XMas tree that is an officially licensed replica of Charlie Brown's Xmas tree from the old TV special. The TV special that mercilessly rags on fake XMas trees and year end commercialism has spawned...a fake tree, that looks like the real one from the show. One that cost $0.20 to manufacture and $20 to own thanks to the huge licensing fee.

My God how much more completely can one miss the point than that? It makes the NASCAR nativity set (the one that plays Black Eyed Peas music when you push the button) look tasteful by comparison.

$20 for a fake tree?! What a bargain (I'm not joking)! Maybe it's completely hideous though.. :)

Well, it's a piece of crap. It approximates the one from the TV special, which, for plot reasons) was basically a sapling nailed to a board that couldn't even hold up a single bulb. Obviously a synthetic one of those would also be crappy by design.

We go to a tree farm and tag one out every year in the beginning of November and pick it up some time in December.  I think its $30 any size.

ha ha very
a fake one for me.... putting a real tree in your house makes zero sense to me :P
<<squirrel>>

ha ha ha ha ha good reason to have a fake tree.  I like a real tree.  they are more work but.  nothing compares.  A real tree isnt perfect and everyone looks different.  half the fun is picking one out.  Then there are many different types of trees to choose from.  I like a douglas fer.  I also dont like fake trees cause they are too dense.all the bulbs stick on the outside of the tree.  it has no depth.  On a real tree you have so much more options and you can be more creative.
