Best RPG? (non-strategy)
« on: January 27, 2015, 04:33:39 PM »
Hey guys,

Say you were going to show the PC-FX to someone that grew up playing SNES RPGs (in Japanese). Which RPG would you try to get them into?

I love my PC-FX games but haven't gone into the RPGs, so I want to start one up but don't want to waste my time. I spent about 2 hours with last imperial prince before deciding it was junk .

Are the rest all generic, goofy and based on grinding/going to ends of the map to find out what to do next, or are there some gems with cool battles, epic feel, good story, etc.?

Boundary Gate is my favorite because first person.

but, can you read Japanese?  If not, what is the point.

Miraculum or Blue Breaker are good, but if you can't read the story, I don't see why you would bother

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, Japanese is not a problem. I'll give those two a try!

Blue Breaker is a must play then.  Very unique game.  Very much the kind of thing NEC wanted the FX to have.

Thanks again guys.

Too bad neither was my cup of tea. The only things I liked were the animation and the Miraculum title screen.

Guess I'll try another machine for my rpgs and get back to Zenki again :p

Farland Story FX is pretty entertaining. Nice art, fairly decent gameplay.

LOL, tried two games.. Didn't like either one.  Guess we'll just throw the PC-FX in the garbage!

BUT WAIT!

I really liked Last Imperial Prince on the PC-FX.  Maybe you'd like it?

What didn't you like about Boundary Gate?  It's pretty top notch stuff.

Makeruna Makendo Z might be worth a look too. I haven't gotten far in it, but I love the style, and it seems like a unique setting for an RPG.
