I think I am anti flight sims at all after being addicted to Steel Battalion for a few years straight. Everything else sim-related sucks now. -_-
Yeah, I used to be really big into flight sims, but I honestly haven't played one since Falcon on the TG. heh. Falcon on the TG is that bad.
Yeah, I used to play alot of PC ones, but then I got Steel Battalion and everything but that as far as sims makes me go THIS BLOWS.
Oh! Steel Battalion! That's the Battletech game for the Xbox that had the special controller. Amazing game. A friend of mine actually had that, along with the special "simulation" controller. Blew my mind. The only battledroid sim experience that beat Steel Battalion was a simulator I played while living in Whistler, BC. There were four stand up cabinets/cockpits with a LAN connection. When you walked into the cabinet you were surrounded by blinking red buttons and a ton of control knobs. What a blast. I kind of forget what the graphics were like, but I remember being blown away - this was in '98, btw. At the end of the game, you received a print out of all your stats and they also showed everyone a replay that switched among the perspectives of the respective players.
Steel Battalion: Line of Contact (online) was soooooooo addicting. I was the most feared artillery pilot on the game. I would take artillery indoors and still f*ck everyone up.
I have a replay of me firing overhead rockets down a hall and killing someone, thus winning the match. The guys own team was laughing at him.
Artillery was yknow, designed for outdoor use only. I figured out indoor use, and proceeded to own.
The game you're talking about is actually just MechWarrior 4 with specialized cockpits (expensive).
They had those here too, and it was awesome. There used to be tournaments and stuff. We used to tear it up! They got rid of em at the dave and busters here though. it was disappointing.
You can use the Steel Battalion controller for Mechwarrior on PC. Just need a USB doodad for your controller, and the drivers.
Mech sims f*cking rule.
