My Fighting Street and Monster Lair spines are Lime-Green. Yellow is suposed to represent RPG's.

I've recently been collecting pics from around the web to see just exactly how many of the cases were done with the classic orange and black labels so I can make a list of them.

The orange and black brings back a lot of the nostalgia for me.

 I suppose Fighting Street and Monster Lair might have a slight green tint. I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock into colors representing genres. I don't consider Gunboat an RPG. :D

On the PC Engine side there seems to be more variation, but that may just be the games I've got.

There definitely is for original style huey cases - those labels are all over the place.  For CDs the variance isn't so great, though there are plenty that use different background colors next to the CD-ROM2/Super CD-ROM2 labels.  Speaking of those labels, are there any PCE titles that don't use green and pink (respectively), like the few US titles that stray from the norm?

Disgusting as it may be to you, Sadler, I'm afraid that the U.S. games did have color shade variations according to genre and I can't help but have an eye for accuracy even if the various shades do become confusing at times.

I did a quick image search on Gunboat's box and the banner is butterscotch-orange or cantaloupe as your color graph defines it.

There are also a few game releases who's color codes were incorrect like Chase H.Q., Fantasy Zone,  Hit the Ice and more that were arcade titles that somehow ended up under "Sports", "Driving", "shooting" and etc.

Those ones should have been color coded Hot-Pink or mara-whatever-o.

Didn't mean any offense, just trying to point out that, like you said, the color tabs don't always accurately reflect genres. Here's an old pic of mine showing both gunboat and fighting street:

Oh, okay. I see what you mean now. So, yeah. That changes things to which color holds more authority? The one on the box or the one on the label? Hmmm...

The plan was for all CD games to have that same style case. But they only released two games at launch and by the time they finally got a new wave of CD titles out there, they decided on a new scheme for TurboChips and CDs.

La Valuer has an extra RPG label on the second spine.

The unlicensed games should all be different.

All hueys except the aforementioned Keith Courage and the two system cards came boxed; all CD-ROM2 games came boxed, excepting Buster Bros., Splash Lake, Vasteel (came in a paperboard sleeve similar to the SGX games), Sherlock Holmes 2, and Syd Mead's Terraforming (the latter two labeled as Super CD-ROM2 but not); and all Super CD-ROM2 titles were unboxed, though Exile: Wicked Phenomenon had a sleeve akin to Vasteel's.
Can I see a image of that paperboard? Please

I can't oblige, as my copy is sleeveless.  Perhaps someone else has a copy they can photo and share.
