Something interesting I found
« on: December 04, 2005, 03:07:47 AM »
Digging around my HD I came across this little thing I started but never finished a while back. Called PC Engine Shooting Celebration, It was going to be a shoot 'em up using all graphics ripped from Engine games and muddled up together. All that there is now is a simple start to level 1 with some enemies (joypad control).

If there are any programmers here, it would be great to ressurect the idea...

Would have been aptly named "Final Shooter" ;)

Sounds like a fun and interesting project. I tried installing it and even though it says 100%, the installer freezes. When I try to load the game, the program opens and shows the screen with the PCE from Star Parodia and Earth in the background saying "Press Fire to Run" or something but I can't get it to load, nor get to the options.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

You need a joypad installed - just bash buttons until it starts.

Here's what it looks like in case you still can't get it to work.

Haha, that looks great! I see there is Gates of Thunder, Airzonk, Magical Chase, and L-Dis present. I can't quite make out where the sprite in the second shot is from (though I have seen him before!) and where those block tiles in the backgrounds come from.

Sprite is from Ordyne or L-Dis (can't remember) and the BG is from Hellfire.
