Chronicle of my holidays
« on: February 27, 2012, 07:16:47 PM »
A couple of weeks I'll be on holidays in NEW YORK!
A very nice city with tall buildings  O:) .
There, I find a pair of shops with retro games: VideogamesNewyork & 8bits and up. I went to a shop in Chinatown but there was nothing, the shopkeeper did not know the console, but I see a 5 or 6 Japanese SCD.
That's what I found:

Ghost Manor, just Hucard at VGNY (39$)
Raiden, complete in jewel case and instructions at 8b (50$)
Sonic Spike, Sealed in box at VGNY (20$)   #-o
Valis 2, complete in jewel case at VGNY (40$)

I bought too a RetroN3 to play NES,SNES and GENESIS (a very nice idea) and Dungeons & Dragons for GENESIS.
What you think about my purchases? I think there are great games here! (Ghost manor it's so funny, but I found Valis very difficult)
I was looking too for a book I found in this topic:
http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=10735.0 (-The Official Turbografx16 Encyclopedia-)
and don't found it anywhere. Can somebody do me a favor?
(the thruth it's: I found it at amazon...but 200$ seems too much expensive!!)
Greetings!

Even by eBay standards, those prices are rather high, but at least you didn't have to pay shipping.  As for the TG-16 Encyclopedia, keep watching for it on eBay and Amazon; my copy came from one or the other and it was ~$10.
U.S. Collection: 98% complete    157/161 titles

Considering mos of the games, basically, buy them on EBAY, what you say, I save shipping costs.
I know that you can find cheaper, but there are sellers who do not want to send to another country (don't ask me why)
About the book ... keep trying, of course.
But...don't say nothing about the games?

I'm in NYC almost every day (friends/work). I never bothered visiting any of the shops selling old games because these stores tend to be sub-par at best. I am glad that you found some games, though.

As for -The Official Turbografx16 Encyclopedia-, just wait and buy a cheap copy. It really isn't that special.

Or, just save your money!

I will eventually scan all the TG-16 books and make them available, but, I'll be honest, I have a lot of magazine scans to finish first.

and I (and all) we will be very grateful for those scans.
about the book, I remember reading about it in this forum.
more as a curiosity than anything else, but I recognize the appeal of having a book about all the games on this system

No, I was there on vacation and this is what I could to bring me home.
Of course I found a lot more games, but the price was more higher than EBAY
for example a Castlevania 170$
