High frequency sounds that burns my ears.

Okay so for the following two nights in a row, sometime around ten o' clock I hear a high pitched sound, that is like

beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,

and while it is occuring, I can feel a sorta pain in one of my ears. I try and search for the sound source. Usually it is a television, cell phone, flat-screen television, anttena,
cd-rom ( dvd-rom, blu-ray, etc ), or hard drive. ).

It is driving me nuts, I go to sleep and wake up with my ears burning. It is almost like somebody punched me in my ears ( which has occured before ) but the pain is focused
on the ear drum.

Asides for all of these things, any idea where this sound is comming from, and why it happens sometime around late nights?

I think somebody has some sorta new home appliance, or it could be the power lines outside, or cell phone towers? Something new is around here. I believe animals like
birds, cats, and dogs can hear the sound I am talking about.

Yeah, it's probably a problem with your ears, and if it's accompanied with pain, that sometimes has to do with your jaw/toothache (the nerves travel up your jaw past your ear).

Rather than what's around you, try and focus on what you're doing.  Are you led down at the time?  Is it quiet (maybe it happens at times earleir, but gets drowned out)?  are you clenching your jaw?

I think this may more accurately describe your problem....

I suggest copious amounts of heavy gauge aluminum foil wrapped around your head.  If you feel your breathing being obstructed that's
just a sign that the foil is doing it's job....keep wrapping.

I still say it is high frequency sound from electronic devices. For me to hear the same sound around the same time, must be somebody using something.

About tinnitus, I have been using a head phones alot. However the sound I heard, has occured when I was a small kid, or even while growing up. It is just that it made one of my ears hurt/burn sooo much. Even when the sound was not their, I could stilll feel the pain. My ear still annoys me a little but not to tha extent.

I hope it has nothing to do with my eyes suddenly hurting, in the upper regions, just for no reason. I go to the doctor the next thing they are going to say "hey you have cancer, take these pills", or some crazy insanity like that.

I had tinnitus for about a year after I was exposed to some extremely louds sounds. I would hear a constant ringing and my ears were extra sensitive to ringing noises like electronics. I still can't wear headphones for long and those ear bud headphones hurt my ears. I am usually very careful with my health too so I am concerned my hearing will be bad when I older.

Actually its funny you bring this us and mention the power company.  I work for the power company, about 15 years back this one elderly lady kept complaining about the Tranformer in her front yard makign noise.  (it was an ovhd contruction over the arm hang Can).  The complaints and field checks go on for a couple months until we finally take out an occiliscope and equipment to actually listen to the transformer internally.  Sure enough that was a high pitched noise in the thrid harmonics that 99% of people could not hear.

We were a bit confused why the transformer hadnt failed on its own either.
