I have it for Sega CD & Turbo.  IIRC, the Turbo version looks slightly better.  As for the game itself, like so many, I haven't really played it too much, but I think it's considered fairly decent IIRC.

I've cleared this game some 15 years ago and played it again earlier this year. I was a bit disappointed by the maps graphics but the game system is cool. I particularly like the ship system, very cool and original.

I always wanted to play this game, but the language barrier makes it difficult.  There's so much gold on the PCE that I really can't enjoy being unilingual :(
Want to bolster my Turbo/PCEngine with all things awesome!  Have a sizable 3DO and Jag collection (along with a bunch of mainstream Nintendo/Sega stuff).

@makillagorilla: walkthroughs in english really help and for most pc engine rpgs there is at least one available. i played through emerald dragon recently and i did understand most of the storyline thanks to the walkthrough. if you could read katakana and hiragana it would also help a lot since most item names or weapon names are written in katakana.

i have learned hiragana and katakana within one week. ;) nothing is impossible.
and no i try to learn kanji.
