To go with a PC-FX system or not...
« on: April 27, 2003, 07:30:00 PM »
I've been seriously debating getting a PC-FX system but not sure if I'd be all that happy with it. Seems like there is some good stuff for it, tho not a big selection of games. The games that are available for it mostly seem to be very heavy in Japanese(lots of sims especially). Mostly seems like walkthroughs or much other info(other then what's available on this site) is simply non-existent. Are these games just better to stay away from in general if you don't read Japanese or do most figure something out eventually.
I sure did like the PSX version of Dragon Knight 4 and was wanting to try this one, but no sense in getting the whole system for a few games I could figure out..heh.

Also, what is the average price I'd look at for buying one of these?

Hi Kaosu,

Sorry for the late reply.  As for the PC-FX, you pretty much hit it on the ball - to really enjoy what the PC-FX has to offer you really should know how to understand Japanese as a LOT of the games require it (and there are only a handful of really good action/shooter/fighting games on the system).

As for prices, units can go from $80 to $200 depending, and games can range from $15 to $300+....usually the games you would want to get that require little or no Japanese are over $100 on the used market (however there are exceptions.)

Hope that answered your questions. Aaron Nanto
