Looking for OBEY.
« on: March 16, 2013, 03:34:13 PM »
Yeah I'm a novice NES homebrewer and I'm trying to find some comprehensive ASM tutorials for the mighty TurboGrafx. However the only stuff I find that is easy to follow are C tutorials... I'm needing some guides for ASM, specially Super CDROM2 stuff.

Thanks a lot.

You could check out the protocade source I just released for everyone like 5 minutes ago...

There's some solid information there.

Thanks a lot Arkhan, I'll take a look.

By the way, aren't you the guy who made a custom blue-board HuCard? Pretty neat, how is it made? Is info on how to do it public?

We do that at Aetherbyte.  That's our next big thing (Atlantean will be on it).   No public information on that is available, though.

Cool, looking forward to it.

Just a random thought, but is it technically possible to manufacture CDRom system card replacements? Or manufacture an US Arcade card? Just wondering.

I've loaded the System 1.0 rom onto the $45 low-cost flash card sold here on the forums and have been able to pass level 1 of Altered Beast so I'd guess the other system cards would run on it as well.

Yes, it would be possible to manufacture new system cards,

but you're better off doing what roflmao just said.  Get all the cards you want, for 45$!

how would you be able to load some RAM into the $45 flash huey?

sure it works cool for the 1.0 ~ 2.1, but how to handle everything above that?^^

Indeed. It might even be possible to make a system card with more than 128K. Or even.....
Well, I'm not allowed to talk about that.

As for an arcade card duplicate? Possible, but not likely. There is apparently some unknown circuitry (ie, no one has bothered to reverse engineer it) on the arcade card. You could possibly duplicate it with a fpga, but it would take a good bit of work to do. Personally, I'd rather figure out how to expand the mmu for more directly acessable ram space :)

I will say that there has been various spitballin' of ideas on making new arcade cards, or even new Turbo/PCE cards in general to support all the formats along with new homebrew stuff.  But, atleast for now, it's just been ideas n' such for the most part.  I won't go any further then that.
