De-yellowing gray PCE consoles
« on: November 09, 2013, 06:52:23 AM »
Anyone have and experience bleaching or othetwise de-yellowing CoreGrafxPCE LT/Shuttle casings?

I believe that I bleached my last CoreGrafx pad, but my memory is fuzzy and I no longer have the pad.

I think that it should work as well as bleaching a white PCE system.

Yeah, looks pretty good compared to most gray PCE systems/pads that have yellowing, but I'd like to try bleaching it if it will make any positive difference and won't ruin any logos or anything.

Should work.  I have tried oxidating a bunch of abs plastics in the university lab.  Bleach itself generally showed improvement on plastic in good shape.  Never tried it with any pc engine stuff though.

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

I was mostly concerned about the screen. I've had hot water and bleach ruin the finish of some Sega stuff. Since Game Gears are locally cheaper than the price of a replacement Nomad screen-cover shipped, I'm going to test it out by bleaching the top half of a Game Gear to see if there are any negative results.
