The real kicker, is for hacking. Taking a single 'rom', you could hack that rom to load additional data/graphics/stages/tiles/etc. Or even add CD musics in place of the chiptunes (probably thee easiest thing to hack on this roms).
Well, this aspect is certainly intriguing, since folks could be creative and breathe new life into familiar games (even if it was merely swapping Redbook for chiptunes).
I would love to see folks play around with this.
