Atlas & A. III/System Card Question
« on: February 10, 2014, 08:36:02 AM »
Just curious:

I have both games. While "Atlas" box states that it needs the Arcade Card, there´s no hint on the "A.III" box.

However when I start the latter, I get a japanese message with "128" in it, and an option to choose - which ends in the cursor to move to the corner right/down.

Does that message refer to the Arcade Card Pro? I am currently using the System card 3.0 (Pro should arrive this week).

A.III is telling you that you can use the "Memory 128" device to save your games, or that it's not detected or something. It is supposed to be one of the few games which only run using the Japanese System 3.0 card, but it should still work with an Arcade Card PRO or PC Engine Duo system with an Arcade Card Duo inserted, since they are using the same rom as the Japanese System 3.0 Card.

Like BT said, that references the MB128 which acts as a giant save folder.  Only certain games can access it directly, but a couple titles allow you to use it like a Tennokoe Bank huey (swapping the entire system memory into one of 63 save slots on the MB128).

Ok. When that message comes on I tried both options. Right after that the cursor gets berserk and moves to the right down corner, and I don´t see any changes except a freeze.

What could be wrong? Does it really only work with the mouse?

I doubt any games require the mouse.  My guess would be you don't have enough save space available or that a MB128 is required (save files too big for system memory).

P.S. - Atlas doesn't require the Arcade Card, it only uses it to reduce loading.

Ok looks like it is a bug. When I press "Select" on the unit, not the Gamepad itself (I am playing on LT with plugged in controller), then the cursor starts wandering. Looks like I did that when the menu came up instinctively  ](*,)

It does play without the Arcade Card. Unfortunately no menu where I could switch to English afaik...or am I wrong?
