Oh my goodness...

I HAVE to get Afterburner 2 now!  I knew the PCE could do Outrun extremely well, but since Afterburner 2 on Genesis sucked, I've never looked into the PCE edition, but it looks like marvelous arcadey goodness!  I need to get that and a Turbo Express/PCE GT, and I will never need another portable game ever.

You've never played After Burner II for the PCE!?!?  Gasp!  :)  It's one of my alltime favs.  I even think the PCE version has better music than the arcade, and very VERY close in gameplay.  I mean, the only real difference I can think of right now is the arcade version "feels" like it has bigger sprites.  I can't confirm this, but aside from this difference they're amazingly similar.  Closer by far than the Genesis version.

The PCE version of After Burner II is very nice indeed. I really love the music in it.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Yeah, I was surprised and delighted by the music in PCE After Burner 2.  I had the MegaDrive version so I never bothered to get the PCE version until a long time later.

As a matter of fact, I opted for the MD ver of Outrun over the PCE ver. back in the day too.  I should have known better. :)
