WTB : Turbo Booster or Turbo Booster plus
« on: September 24, 2006, 08:55:34 AM »
The title says it all. I'm looking for either a standard TG16 Turbo Booster module or Turbo Booster Plus ( With game save feature ). If anyone has one up for grabs let me know.

Thanks!

There is another option if you can't find a turbo booster.  I'm guessing that the rf out has become loose on your turbografx.  Well, there is a mod you can do that is fairly simple to convert your turbo to rgb out.  Again, just another option if you have trouble tracking down the booster.

Well I can't speak for newwaver88, but for me RGB mods aren't that useful. TVs with SCART inputs basically weren't sold in my country (USA) at all so the only ways of even seeing the RGB images would be:

A dedicated RGB monitor such as the one in a arcade machine.

Buying an XRGB2 upscan converter to display the image on a VGA monitor

Buy a very old NEC multi-synch monitor that will actually display very low hz images.

None of these solutions are as practical as just having someone fix your wobbly RF jack, which is a pretty simple process for someone who can solder.

Another solution would be to buy a CDROM2 unit, since those give you RF, or...just buy a Japanese Duo someplace for $100.

I was under the impression that rgb can be converted to component video fairly easily.  Lots of people have done this mod, gathering from google results.  I do know that the rf out repair is not that easy because I was going to do it myself until I discovered that the motherboard in the tg is completely encased in metal underneath the plastic housing, and it is soldered together.  So I don't think you want to go that route, unless you're a lot handier than I am with that stuff.  The cd-rom attatchment is an easy solution tho, if you have the dough.  Plus you have the added benefit of playing cd games.  Anyway, I was just passing along some info, it's just another option.

Yeah, I'm interested in learning what it takes to convert RGB to component. In theory it should be easy since they are very similar, but I haven't looked it up yet.
