Avenue 6 Pad - Plastic protector on the face?

Hey Everyone,

A common theme I've seen with Avenue 6 Pads is bubbling that appears on the face of the control pad. Is there a plastic film on the front to protect it from scratches, or is it just the way it was manufactured?

Designed to be removed by owner.

Usually guarantees that original owner has minty fresh, clean pad for ~2 minutes before grease, oil, and flan soil the faceplate.

I see. I was kind of worried about picking at mine. It's supposed to be a new controller, but with the way people abuse pads, I've seen some which are in terrible shape. But that's the original layer, so if you peeled it off it would be all sticky and junk.

The reason it's so hard to tell is because the stick the plastic on so perfectly, there doesn't seem to be any area to grab to pull it off. Just use a razor blade or something?

Don't try peeling it up from one of the bubbles or you'll probably scratch the face underneath.  Work from an edge, rubbing it until the edge curls up a bit, giving you something to pull on.

I never knew they were meant to be removed lol.  My duo controller has had the plastic peeling off of it since the day I bought it, and I have never removed it.  Unless this idea does not go for all controllers, than thats poopy

It's the same film that covers the name plate on a TG-16 system, it's meant to be removed, yet I commonly see photos where it's still there, all bubbly and ugly. I don't get why people don't remove it.

yeah unfortunately as I found out the plastic film on ave pad sixers is cheaper than most and can bond with the face plate plastic. Be careful but I would recommend taking the film off asap.

Jeez...

A friend of mine had a "Please remove" sticker on top of his CRT TV. He never did what he was told by the sticker though. So every time I went to his place, I felt an urge deep inside to remove it. It was very Monk-like.

I think that's where I got the idea that the film was normal. Because I've seen some pretty old pads and when you try to remove the plastic it doesn't work as the film had already bonded with the plastic. Makes you think the film was the top layer, and under it was just the adhesive. Anyway, problem solved, film removed! :-)
