Wasn't there a faceball demo disc in a magazine?

I don't know how it was distributed, but there is indeed a Faceball demo:
U.S. Collection: 97% complete    155/159 titles

I probably have seen that video for Faceball before, but I don't remember it. At all. So, basically, I am experiencing senility.

or 13 years in the forum and 17,000 posts.   the fact you remember anything on here is a miracle.

BT: Look at how the fake SFII' carts instantly sold out and were immediately listed on eBay before the flippers even took possession. Look at Nintendo's overpriced bricks. Look at the typical forum discussions elsewhere.

It's also on one of the PCE Catalog discs.

There is an actual TurboDuo demo disc starring Zonk:

This was for kiosks...

So, I guess Joe needs to make a distinction between demo discs and how they were distributed to/accessed by the public...because folks today have a very distinct idea of "demo disc"...even though it has multiple meanings and contexts over time...

Kiosk demo discs are fine. And in my opinion quite interesting. I'll look for an ISO of this Air Zonk disc. That's pretty damn awesome.

I like the fact that you will explain how the concept of "demo disc" is multifaceted and has evolved over the years.

I asked this question long ago, but nobody has been able to answer it:

(1) Was PCE first console to have demo/sample CD? I think so.
(2) Were there ever demo/sample carts? Maybe not for general public, but retailers?
(3) For PC world...what counts as the first demo/sampler? Should we focus only on commercial software? Obviously, demo diskettes/cassettes probably existed long before consoles...but what were the first ones?
(4) Did Famicom Disk System have demo?
(5) blah blah blah.
(6)

2) Demos and sample cartridges exists for many systems. Cartridges are a bit too expensive to make for free give-away demos though.

4) Probably not, I'm collecting FDS and I've never seen any demos. There are however magazine games, like Sunsoft's Nazo no Magazine Nazoler Land that supposedly came with some magazine and Tokuma Shouten's Famimaga disks that came with the Famimaga magazine.

Ahhh, very interesting. If you have any links, I would love to read more :)

Thank you.

I don't have any links but just google Nazoler Land and Famimaga.

The Nazoler Land series have several mini games on each disk. Famimaga is usually one game per disk I think. Volume 5 is the original Puyo Puyo, released at the same time as the MSX2 version. Volume 6 Janken Disk Shirou seems to have Disk-kun as its main character (he was featured in the magazine's comics as well I think).

CD I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. Other formats like cartridges or floppy discs if we're counting home computer games definitely came first, even if they weren't for public use.

Yes there were. Some containing just hacked or timed versions of full games.

We first need to define PC world. Do you simply mean consumer computers as a whole or specifically the IBM Personal Computer (X86 DOS to Windows based) platform?

Not sure, probably and blah blah blah blah.

The Famicom, Atari 2600, etc, had sample carts, of course.  And...
