This one roughly says that this is no bootleg. I was bidding on it but luckily i noticed soon enough to stop bidding.

What do you guys think?

The second one is a bootleg. Look at the plastic, it doesn't look like that on real sealed PC Engine games.

By the way--there are like five of these threads here already.

Nah I think it's ok, could use a reminder for the new/ignorant ppl that didn't know.  I know I was still a pce noob like 4 months or so ago and I didn't even know bootleg pce games existed.  I even picked one up for $70 or so, not that I really care now, it's a cool game -- maybe I'll pick up a real one later.

Look, it sold for 56 euro, which is really way too much for a bootleg. These guys are selling it as a real copy and I almost fell for it. It's surely not a bad thing to notify people I guess. (especially if it's in Frech-who can translate that-honestly?)

I don't need to examine the pics in photoshop, its immediately clear its a fake.

What stands out first is the 'Sapphire' logo and the Arcade logos.

If some of the newer forum members aren't familiar with the differences between the bootleg Sapphire's and the real deal, you can find everything you need to know, as well as a bunch more you probably wouldn't care about here-

http://superpcenginegrafx.com/sapcomp1.html

I contacted buddy and told him that it was fake and that I could e-mail (you can't include links in eBay messages) him the link to my bootleg comparison page if he wanted to know why.

Yeah, except that in the description he says-

"I have had this game for quite some time and I even bought the bootleg version to compare it to.  I am keeping the new bootleg version I have."

Which is straight-up telling bidders that he's selling an original/non-fake, but giving himself an excuse for later if a potentional buyer comes back to him after learning that it's a bootleg.

Then he can say that he showed pics and the gave the serial number, so he wasn't hiding anything.

EDIT: I just realized that the auction already ended and a$$hole got over $300 for it!

I didn't realize that they had a history here. What's the deal?

I already sent them a message warning them  about the auction.

OMG you don't know how happy that makes me, I think I'm going to msg that sob, since he's even too dumb to know a fake sapphire heh.  I'll take suggestions for what this msg should consist of.  My idea since I'm a big online gamer loser nerd would be:

Good f*cking game you ignorant yet disgustingly wealthy piece of human garbage.  That's what you get for pushing around the little guys and buying up everything you can for 2x+ the amount it is worth at most.  Have a nice day there buddy! :D

Love,

This one actually looks real in the picture and is a great deal considering that it's completely complete and comes with an Arcade Card-

I'd say there is some justice in colettebowles getting ripped off like that if they weren't going to turn around and resell it (likely ) for a profit to some poor (as in lacking common sense, not money ) fool on ePay.

It looks like colettebowles wound up buying the legit one above.

And they didn't end up getting ripped off, after I warned them about the fake (never having heard of them before) they contacted the seller and after some 'negociating' they managed to get the real Sapphire that the seller was keeping(exact opposite of their description) as well as the fake they were passing off as real.

I just got a used (pretty good condition, no obi) legit copy of Sapphire at Super Potato for about $250.  It had been there for a while, but I figured I'd better snatch it up before someone else got it, as the price was a bit less than what the game goes for on Yahoo Japan auctions.  Usually it's the other way around, Super Potato can be a bit more expensive than Yahoo Auctions for PCE titles, even more expensive than other used game stores in Japan.
