Identifying this toy part

Anyone know what this is from? It looks like a gun for some sort of vehicle. At first I thought late 80s TMNT but I can't seem to find anything matching this. I found it in my basement and I know its from a childhood toy but that's all I know.. I would hate to throw it out in case someone actually needs it

It doesn't look like anything I'm familiar with...it could be a piece that was only used in shipping...to be tossed once the toy was out of the box.

Wish I knew, I'm usually decent with this sort of thing. Definitely looks early eighties to me.

What toy lines did you play with as a kid? I doubt I can help but that might narrow it down some.
