Question about 6-button controller compatibility
« on: November 01, 2016, 01:21:27 PM »
Another noob question (and thanks so much by the way, you guys have been an enormous help) as I'm still new-ish to NEC hardware.

What are the options for a 6 button controller (for SF2, for example) on a US TG-16?

Will the controller from a Duo-RX work if you use a regular Duo-To-TG16 adaptor cable?

Are there any other "official" NEC 6 button controllers to keep an eye out for?

Third party controller that is generally accepted as good?

Any PCE (mini-DIN socket) controller will work with a TG-16 with an adapter.  For regular pads, there's three options for 6-buttoners:

Arcade Pad 6 (a.k.a. - RX pad) - 100% official goods from NEC, sold with the Duo-RX and separately.
Avenue Pad 6 - from NEC Avenue instead of 'regular' NEC, but I guess it's still official (quasi official?).  This is the most commonly owned pad.
Hori Fighting Commander - third party controller that's not terribly common but is well liked by those that have 'em.

The RX pad has a yerroble d-pad and the buttons aren't great. Stick to the Ave Pad 6 and Hori Fighting Commander.

Agreed, the Ave6 is great.
