Djinn is Do-Tar's guardian, the sub-boss of the final areas, who appears at the end of The Great Ark.
Crully is the god of hate at the top of the Spire Of Eternity. The game is definately beatable once you work the flaws to your advantage (killing the bat-things in the Tower Of Souls using Rumi's edge-of-screen-knife-flaw comes to mind...those things are a pain otherwise).
Whoops, I thought Djinn was that dude with the axe that joins your party. But yeah, that Dijin guy is tough.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I made it to the waterfall boss, pulled off the most amazing acrobatic gaming skillz you've (n)ever seen and still couldn't beat the cheapo. I haven't played it since.

That would be Lawrence. Once you get him, he completely kicks ass in the three areas that follow. But yeah, he's a cheapo when you fight him, and it's mainly due to the aforementioned problems with the game engine itself.

You guys really know your Exile II.  You must be real diehard fans of that game.

Most of the games I've played hundreds of times, I can recall specific details for. Maybe I should write an Exile II guide or something...
