controller port problems
« on: May 01, 2017, 12:37:53 PM »
Hey all - I haven't seen this exact question asked before, though I did a search!

Basically my duo was not registering "down" on the d-pad reliably for a while, and now is creating a lot of false "run" presses when I'm nowhere near that button. I'm wondering if this is something others have heard of, and whether I should be sending this thing out to get fixed up. I need to get it recapped anyway (just because), so I don't know if this could be related - basically any info will be useful!

Also I'm quite sure it's not the controllers themselves, because I've tried a bunch, and they all result in the same issue.

thanks!!!

Those sockets are really weak. Usually just reflowing the joints fixes it. Whoever does the recap can probably fix it in seconds.

What Zeta said.  The AV port is similarly weak; neither connector is braced to the case or angled back to the pcb, so the soldered base has to take all the torque from insertions.
