Bubble Bobble series
« on: April 15, 2006, 03:29:08 PM »
Does anyone know if there are any other Bubble Bobble-esque games on the pce besides Rainbow Islands and Parasol Stars?
i remember someone mentioning a "Bubble Bobble IV" game not too long ago.  they weren't referring to an official sequel, but a similar game nonetheless.
Don Doko Don or Pop n' Magic look like possibilities after looking at screenshots on pcecp.com, but i don't know anything about these games.
does anyone know what i'm talking about?

Pop 'n' Magic is worth tracking down. It's a very similar concept: You shoot the monsters so they become bubbles, you then pick up the bubbles and throw them into each other to get goodies.
I didn't like Don Doko Don much, though others think it's good.

Snow Bros. (Arcade, NES, Mega Drive) is more or less identical to Bubble Bobble.

Circus Lido is like that, but personally I thought that game sucked.

There's supposed to be a version of Snow Bros. floating around for the Turbo, who knows if it actually exists.  BTW, Liquid Kids is like Bubble Bobble as a platformers.

Super Buster Bros. is pretty good.  Also check out Liquid Kids.  Don Doko Don is my personal fav of this type of game.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I know this thread has been dead for a while, but I just found this in the Turbo Play Magazine Achives and got really excited.

When ParanoiaDragon mentioned Liquid Kids i couldn't find any information about it being "Bubble Bobble 4" at the time so I forgot about it.

Looks like a cool game.

Wow, that page is still loading up? Most of my old sites have been wiped from the comcast servers (those bastards!).

I've always wanted to get Liquid Kids, sounds fun as hell. I haven't seen it for an affordable price, though. :(

It IS a great game!  I wish the 2nd Taito Legends would come out, it would have an arcade perfect version of it on there :?

I have Liquid Kids. It's a very fun game obviously heavily derived from the Bubble Bobble series. Before it's release Taito was advertising it as "Bubble Bobble 4".

I've also played the arcade. The TG version is nearly arcade-perfect. In fact, the only difference is the TG version lacks parallax scrolling completely. Otherwise, the graphics are beautifully cartoony.

This gem doesn't pop up for sale too often since most folks tend to hold on to their copies. It's just *that fun*.
