CD ROM2 Constantly Spinning

Anyone seen this behaviour before?

Happens as soon as I plug power in. cd motor spins even without laser ribbon cables connected.

Looks like the motor is getting over 6v, not sure if thats correct.  7805 is outputting 5v

The limit switch is working correctly.

Gears are good and can move easily.

Recently recapped and has been working great.

Any advice would be really appreciated

By some insane stroke of luck, it turned out to be one of more dirty through hole vias.

Cleared a few out (after reading on a KCourage thread) and must have cleared the short out?
