Game of the Month: October 2024 - Devil's Crush

DEVIL'S CRUSH

Sorry for being late this month. This month is Halloween, so it's Devil's Crush / Crash. My favorite pinball video game outside of a real pinball machine. Fantastic graphics, gameplay and music by legendary Toshiaki Sakoda who also did Alien Crush, and Seirei Senshi Spriggan on the PC-Engine. Been a while since I've given this a go and I love the design of the table in this.  Gonna keep this short cause there's not really much else to say except it's an amazing pinball game. Enjoy!

Nice call. DC is always good for a pick up'n play. I never worry about score, but just hit flippers for a spooky good time!

Played this and Alien Crush last night for a bit.  So, yes, Devil's Crush is the better game, but man, I like the soundtrack to Alien Crush a good deal more.

Pinball on videogame consoles was weird back when these were coming out.  I think they're still some of the most interesting games I've ever seen.  There's a lot you lose by taking pinball into a digital space, but these two really showed that there was a lot to be gained as well.  Yeah, you're playing pinball on your game console, but you're also playing a videogame.  I thought it was leaps and bounds ahead of, say, NES Pinbot.

As a dumb aside, TZD used to have an FAQ where a question was if they would buy used games from owners.  TZD's response was something like "We can't do that because then we wouldn't be selling all NEW games.  Also, how many copies of Kieth Courage would we end up with compared to how many copies of Devil's Crush?"
Current want list:  Bomberman 93

Yeah I played both Devil and Alien Crush this past month. Enjoyed both but Devil is definitely the better game with how the board is one main large board. The cut to the other part of the board is distracting some. Still had a blast. Should probably post a score. Lol!
