Wasn't this game originally free and never "officially" released to stores?  I heard that it was given out to a bunch of a$$holes at some sort of show or some nonsense like that.

People selling Sapphire just like to say that.

Just as many sellers on eBay first of establish in their description that "trust me, I'm an expert, I know what I'm talking about", and then go on about how Dracula X is not only the rarest short printed PCE game, but also the absolute rarest video game ever made.

i mean think about it once. sapphire was for sure one of the most expensive developments on the PCE for hudson. so why the hell this game should end just as a give away for free to some dumb a$$holes

Once you get the hang of the game, this actually IS fairly easy if you use the fastest ship (for good players like us, not the babies).
I disagree. It would take far more talent to beat the game using the slow ass characters because I honestly don't think they're more powerful weapons make up for their slow ass speed.

Try rereading my post, and try really hard to comprehend it.  The point I made is that it's easiest to one-credit the game with the fastest ship although it still won't be easy for lesser players.  And my point in saying I used the slower blue girl was that it's more of a challenge than using the fast one, while being more playable than when using the slowest ones.  So you basically agree with me.

Every time that I play it, I still mumble that I can't believe that this game is on the TG16/PCE. I just played it last night, and it blows me away every time.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Sapphire is definitely one of my favorite shooters.  I really like the tunes as well as the mix of pre-rendered polys and drawn sprites.  I wouldn't say that Sapphire's easy, but it is too short.

I don't even know what a bed time is anymore. These days I just nap once or twice a day.

I enjoy Sapphire on my duo not a bad shooter at all.

I just find it to be overated if it any thing at all.

Still my copy is a fake but i refuse... to pay for what a legit copy go's for. Paying for $400.00+ just, for a peace of plastic is ridiculous in my book.

Heck for that amount of money i'd rather buy a "arcade cab or a console.
