prices for Turbo Games? US ONLY!
« on: April 04, 2007, 04:15:09 AM »
Hey guys, I am regretfully putting some of my babies(my turbo games) on ebay.

I was just looking for some idea as what to ask for some of these games.  I am selling-

Splatterhouse-Complete
Super Air Zonk-perfect
and Cotton (US SCD)- complete/perfect

I always put the starting bids at .01 with no reserve, but I like to put a buy-it-now price up for those rabid fans that need their games now.

So I see one Super Air Zonk auction for $280.  Thats pretty crazy, so I put a $200 buy it now on it.

What should I put on cotton?  maybe I'll just let it go without a buy-it-now...

I think its pretty crazy that Super Air Zonk brings in that much $$$.  I guess we'll see when its all said and done...

I put $30 for splatterhouse, I saw another one go for $28 but that was without the cardboard box.  SO I figured $30 was reasonable.

I dunno- give me some input...

nvmd- SAZ already sold.  Damn, I guess they do go for that much...

I actually put the BIN for $180, about 100 less than what I saw.

Ugh hopefully it wasn't bought by some shit with an ebay store who's going to put it back up for $300 or more.  I'm sure you'll see your exact copy back up on ebay within the month.

Do those fools actually get anything sold? I've seen tons and tons of super overpriced games on Ebay for what feels like over a year. Seems like they just can't sell them for their insane prices, and that's not exactly surprising.

$30 would be good for Splatterhouse, but you could probably sell it for a little more since it has the cardboard box. I'm not so sure about Cotton, but I would assume at least $100.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Yeah, it was bought by "ultimate_f*cking_video_game_connection" . You bet your f*cking ass it was an eBay store. I am so f*cking heated. f*cking f*ck.

You should stiff them and not ship. Take the negative, refund their money, and then sell it to a REAL PERSON. I would've bought that copy off you for $180 in a heartbeat.

That's what I get for not visiting the forum for over a day.

EDIT: You might think I'm kidding, but I'm completely serious. If you do that, I will buy it from you and you'll get the added bonus of knowing it will never ever show up on eBay for sale again. Super Air Zonk is one of the few titles I have left to complete my US collection. Magical Chase is another.

That's too bad, of all the really expensive US games Super Air Zonk is propably the least fun to actually play.  It's not nearly as good as Air Zonk.  I think I've logged as many hours on Godzilla in four weeks as I have with SAZ in ten years.   :)

At any rate, it's hard to tell if that buyer is a store or not because he buys and sells from the same account.  Usually stores buy from multiple accounts and do all of their selling from just their store.  Considering the buyers name, it's possible he's just a big dork.  If anyone can confirm that he is indeed a store, refunding his money and helping Nat out doesn't sound like a bad idea.

If you want to sell items at a reasonable, fixed price, I think it's best to use this forum.  Otherwise, start the bidding low, wait the full duration and see what the market will bear.  Two months ago, I was amazed when my PCE copy of Terraforming sold for almost $130.  I looked at the bid history and no one bid higher than $20 except for two lunatics who fought eachother all the way to the final amount.

Turbo Sage-  US Cotton sells anywhere from $80-150, almost always over $100.

Yeah, I only go to eBay if I don't get any interest here. I really don't like eBay anymore.

Actually, Terraforming is another US title I need. I'm shocked and appalled at the prices I see it going for now. Like you said, even the Japanese region discs are usually extremely expensive. Does anyone know why this is? It doesn't seem to be all that rare. There's always at least 3 copies for sale on eBay at any given time. Actually, I just checked and there is a Japanese copy available right now for $39.99. That's by far the lowest I've ever seen it. The next one up is $69.99. The US copy available right now has a BIN of $199.00.

Forty is about average for the PCE version.  Wait around and you'll eventually find one for closer $30.  I think the only reason my PCE disc went for so much is because I was a US seller, I let the auction go for 10 days and I included an additional US manual.  It might take half a year but the US version sometimes goes for as low as 80-100.
Other than the manual and insert, the games are absolutely identical.  You won't miss an dialog or cinemas if you get Terraforming on the PCE.

Decent game + active collectors + small run = high prices (for US Terraforming anyway - PCE version's cheaper).  That's the story for just about any of the last US releases.

It's still one of the more expensive common Japanese releases. I have no idea why. I've seen Japanese copies sell on eBay for close to $100 before. $40 as an average seems quite low to me-- I've only seen one copy go for $40 EVER, and that's the one up now for $39.99.

It's a moot point though, since the the purpose of completing my US collection is just that-- to complete my US collection. So I'm holding out for a US copy. Hopefully I can snipe one of those 80-100 copies if and when one shows up.

Good luck.  Make sure you always seach for both "terraforming" and "terra forming".  There's a second $40 PCE copy up that only appears if you combine the words and I've seen the US version listed both ways as well.

Wolfgames is selling the JP version for $39.  I bought it from a buddy of mine for $24 just recently.
