Sinistron gave me mixed emotions. I though the sound effects sucked and the music wasn't very impressive. The graphics didn't win me over either. At the same time, it was ass hard and it did keep me coming back for more, so there was clearly a hook, some kind of appeal, in there somewhere.

You kidding? The music is Sinistron is awesome. I guess it's an acquired taste-- like beer. Or something. It has a very unique style that grew on me over time. The boss tune is especially cool. The graphics are a mixed bag, but they shine on certain levels like the asteroid level. I'm personally kind of a graphics junky, so I'm picky, but I wasn't put off by anything in the game.

I didn't like the asteroid level, as far as aesthetics are concerned, but I 100% agree about the music in Sinistron. I think most of the graphics in Sinistron are adequate, but neither the sprites nor the backgrounds are particularly inspiring.

However, looking at Sinistron as a whole, the sum of the parts are much greater!

Sinistron's music is excellent.

I like Nat's idea of attempting to play through the game without using the shield mechanism.  The prospect of trying some parts without opening the jaws is horrifying.

Nat, you should check out the asteroid level in Violent Soldier (if you haven't already); it has more background "stuff" visually, making it look even better than Sinistron's.

I still have to get Violent Soldier. Nat snatched one from D-Lite a few months ago. That was supposed to be mine, goddammit.

Sinistron is bad ass  8)
Reminds me of Splatterhouse in the graphics and music.

Sinistron is twice the game Splatterhouse could ever hope to be.

agreed  :)
