Wow this thing's heavy...

So then...the other day, wifey was snooping around clasificadosonline looking for a professional digital camera, since she knows I've been wanting one for ages now. She didn't expect to find a damn thing, as there usually isn't much to find. However, she managed to find a Sony Alpha 100 with kit lens (18-70mm), a 75-300mm lens, and a vertical grip for $400. This is a camera that I've seen go for close to $1200 for the body and kit lens alone, let alone with the extra accessories. So needless to say, we called the guy up and told him we wanted it, and that we'd be in his area on Thursday with cash in hand. Well, turns out he screwed up his ad and wasn't going to include the vertical grip, but said we could have it for an extra $50. Worth it, so we took it. So, $450 later, here's my prize:

I'm not a fan of Sony cameras but a deal this good was too sweet to pass up.

And those of you who I talk to on the shoutbox know exactly what this investment will be used for......

Nice find, Rover.  I'm not a Sony fan either, but you can't go wrong at that price.  Have fun with that beasty.

So what exactly is that investment being used for?

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

And here's a picture of the old camera I've used for years...shot close to 3000 pictures with this poor lil workhorse, including all photos used to sell items on eBay and most of the pictures of my wife and daughter:

Nice grab Rover!  As Necro said, Sony isn't exactly a camera exclusive company, but for a price like that you can't go wrong. Very nice. Very, very nice.

Most of the camera, and all of the lenses, seem to be lifted from Minolta. The camera is compatible with all Minolta A-type lenses and, of course, Sony's own branded stuff. I don't mind though.

I have a point and shoot Sony cybershot 6mp. It rocks! It is what I use for all of the pictures that I post here. Of course I adjust levels and tweak size  in cs2 before they get uploaded  :)
