Who wants to do a group buy for a Jrok video encoder???
« on: September 02, 2008, 11:02:07 AM »
Anyone interested in a group buy for Jrok encoders (or hosting one)?

Like many of you I am considering getting the Jrok 4.1 component converter to get sweet component goodness from my Duo. Now in his email he said that discounts are applied to purchases of multiple encoders ordered, so I thought I would drop a line and see if anyone is interested in doing a group buy. Now I have been on this website alot recently, but I really haven't been active for a long time. So I am not trying to volunteer myself as the group buyer (but I have no issue with doing that) but seeing if there was first any interest in at least 5+ units. Discounts start at 5, and get accelerated to 15% after 10 units! Good deal if you ask me!

Is there a senior moderator that would mind setting up a group buy (especially if you know James or someone from Jrok)? I would be happy to be the host (and I have Ebay history to vouch for) but that isn't my goal (primarily to get a discount). If not, well the prices already look reasonable to me and I wouldn't mind buying just 1 unit at standard price.

Is there any interest in the U.S. since it would be easier for shipping, etc. Where does everyone live anyways?

I got a response from Jrok and here are the details for purchasing:

I've put off buying a 4.1 for ages now. Count me in.

If you're on the Klov and Neo forums you may get more people up for it. Id like to see if someone can get the color levels regulated better PCE,TG wise on this thing. Till then its not worth it to me personally. Supergun wise I stick to the s-video encoders Yanton sells due to how cheap they are and how good the s-video is on them.

well I don't know people from there as well, so I will probably just stick to here. Like I said the price is good enough for me to just buy one...

I'd be willing to go in as I need a v4.1 encoder with a sync cleaner as long as we have someone taking care of the packages in a timely manner.

I have a modder who did my component video and region mod who can help you all out. I think it was 45 for component (me providing the jrok) and 35 for the region mod install's. $30 for RGB and $35 for S-video. PM me for details once you get your stuff. That way I can get you all proper references.

That's awesome, thanks for the post. Can you give us details on how the install turned out? Image quality of the install, maybe some pics too of the hardware (at least an external shot)?

So far I have 3 accounted for, we need minimum of 5 to get a discount (and hopefully 10 to get a better discount). I have confirmed with a member on this forum that the component mod works. I will see if he can post up some details, and now we also have someone that can install at a reasonable price. Bring your Duo to the 2000's with a component mod (and skip S-Vid).

Wow, sounds like a great idea!  If it was a purely plug and play deal I might be interested...
