My gear looked sort of bone-colored. I guess it's better to call it yellow. Luckily that is the only TG-CD I have the problem with (I have two other units).
I don't believe that NEC had these gears especially made for their units, so I imagine that somewhere, at some price, those gears HAVE to be available (and maybe a tiny pair of spreaders for the snap ring holding it in place!).

http://www.wagner.net.au/catalogue/05_Audio.pdfThey don't sell gears, but they do sell a LOT of different CD player motors/lasers/assemblies. I myself have never taken the time to match the TG-CD laser up, but I'd say it's a good bet that they'd have it.
Probably not the gear though.
What we need is someone who really knows about small machined parts, how to classify gears just by looking at them, and knows a great source for them.
Or else, we need someone who has access to a mold, so we can mass produce these things ourselves out of non-brittle plastic.
