The Kung Fu: How to rock an opponent?
« on: January 12, 2020, 01:07:50 PM »
Hey gang,

So when playing The Kung Fu, I noted that occasionally your character will do a move which particularly rocks the opponent hard (Like a slow motion heavy punch), etc. Does anyone know what the criteria is for scoring one of these hits? Is it due to a power up? Or maybe some kind of mechanic where if you counter strike them, they get particularly hurt?

From strategywiki org:

Rage attacks

If the player is hit a couple of times consecutively without taking the opportunity to strike back, he builds rage. If the next attack thrown by the player is a punch, there is a good chance for that attack to turn into a rage attack. Rage attacks take one of two different forms. One is an extremely powerful punch, represented visually by an oversized fist. The other is an extremely rapid set of punches. The effect of either is the same. Against a boss, successful connection with a rage attack will remove three bars from the boss' health meter.

Oh wow. It sounds like they added a special attack to keep the boss fights more close. So if you fall a bit behind in hits, you can make it back up with a monster one. I guess it does nothing for you however, if you keep getting hit after your rage meter is already full.

Edit: Actually, it says "without taking the opportunity to strike back". So maybe if you are throwing wild strikes, it cancels your rage out. So it rewards you for intentionally taking hits to build up rage, then picking the right time to strike to release your rage.
