How is the TG version of Forgotten Worlds, anyway? I really enjoyed the Sega Genesis version...
5 bux each, man you got good deals there - isn't Cotton fairly rare?
I also loved the Genesis version back when it first came out and thought that it looked and sounded awesome.
I picked up the Turbo CD version as soon as it was released and loved it too, but thought that it was graphically limited in some ways.
For years now, I've bought copies of the Genesis and Megadrive versions and each time they were broken in a unique way, so I couldn't compare them properly until recently.
It turns out that the sections of the Turbo game I thought could've used some additional color are actually more or less arcade perfect. The Turbo CD game is only limited by the source material.
In fact, by 90's standards, the Turbo CD version is more arcade perfect that all those 'arcade perfect' ports like Street Fighter II SNES and the early Capcom to Genesis ports.
As for the Genesis version, after looking at the arcade(on MAME) and Turbo CD games, it looks more like the Sega Master System version.
Really, there's no comparison. Like all the early Capcom arcade to Genesis conversions(like GnG & Strider), it's pretty much drawn from scratch and isn't really a 'port'. And the sound(fx) is also less impressive and/or imperfect.
The Turbo CD game doesn't have independant scrolling backgrounds, but what's the point of scrolling a couple of bland repetative objects? The arcade's scrolling bg's actually don't look so great either. You get a better view of all the art in the Turbo CD game.
And once again, you get a soundtrack thats worth the price alone and is way better than the original.
You also get to choose between Japanese or English cinemas and you can listen to everything in the Sound Test.
There's also an extra level or two that were cut from the Genesis port.
You can check out some comparison screenshots at the bottom of this page from the PC Engine Software Bible-
