dragon spirit code

Has anybody here heard about a code in dragon spirit which allows you to play using the original arcade screen? I read about this somewhere online and you're supposed to press select and run 57 times to restart the game. I've tried it a few times and can't get it to work. Am I doing something wrong or is this not a real code?

Yeah, if you reset the game with run+select like 50 times, then the screen will become more narrow.  The same code works in Dragon Saber too.

This won't work in a emulator though.

That game is impossible. I can save every two seconds on the money engine and still not get past area 8  :x

It does get quite hard indeed!

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

I just got the turbo version and I think it's a lot harder than the nes one. I'm pretty sure I got to the last boss on the nes one and so far I can only get to level 4 on this one. I believe you get more than 2 continues in the nes version, though I might be wrong. The turbo version definitely looks and sounds a lot better.

The sound in Dragon Spirit is really nice for an early HuCard game.

Theres a code out there that gives you 100 continues, but even with that it would be tough. If you don't have the speed up power up when you reach the area 8 boss, there is no way to outrun the boomerang; it just hits you no matter how you you maneuver. I'm curious if anyone has actually beat it. I tried the MAME version and its even tougher without rapid fire. Its one of the ones that doesn't start you exactly where you died, like Ghouls and Ghosts.

The original arcade version does have the narrow screen as alex mentioned, but I didn't play it enough to get a sense of a gameplay difference, beyond a more authentic arcade look.
