im playing Ys book 1&2 for the first time. im in the second half of the game, going through the devine area mines. its such a maze that i had to start drawing a map; really enjoying it so far.

also, does anyone else think that enviornment graphic detail and music are a shit load better in book 2?

I'm happy that you are enjoying the game and drawing maps so far. I believe on GameFAQs that someone mapped out the devine area, but mapping yourself is quite fun (I had my little brother map out Keith Courage for me once so I could beat it :D ).

I agree that the enviorment graphic detail is a bit better in Book II and I think I can safely say the music is a bit better too. The awesome thing is that since you're only at the devine mines, I can honestly say that the graphics and especially music get better the farther you go along. You know this seems to be a symptom for all Ys games.

Anyways, enjoy the game. It's one of my all time favorites (easily my favorite RPG of any kind). The end of the game is incredible.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

That is a great game. I envy anyone who has the pleasure of going through it for the first time.

The first time I played thru Ys I & II was when I bought my TurboDuo at an actual store...before the Internet was a big thing. :) So no walkthroughs for me...I played it through without any help, just like all other games I owned for the console. Playing a game through without a walkthrough really helps you remember the game and you become much more expert in playing it. :)

yeah, im going through without walkthroughs, im certain i will feel more acomplished at the end.

I havent even spoiled the story for myself by reading summaries, so i dont even know whats going to happen.

Think closely about this sentence, "...but Adol says he cant understand the demon language...". It's kind of like a riddle, hehe :D .
