I'm thinking about getting a new Turbo Express from tzd and I have some questions about it.

How many batteries does it take?

Do you need a battery pack for it or do they go right in the back of the system?

Is it safe to use rechargable batteries?

How big is the screen compared to game boy,gba,nomad etc?

Are the games just as colorful as they are on the system? I know this is kind of a weird question but I saw a screenshot of Bonk's Adventure being playing on the TE and the colors looked more dull than they do on the Turbo Grafx. Was that just the picture or does it have something to do with the system?

I have one and I'm very happy with it.

It takes six AA batteries - but if I'm not mistaken, I think a battery pack was available - but not necessary.

I don't know how rechargables will affect the system. I just buy all my batteries at Costco - and they last a decent amount of time, surprisingly.

I would say the screen is slightly smaller than a GBA, but it is a pretty bright screen. I have never been dissappointed with the colors.

Oh yeah, one more question, Can I use the turbo grafx AC adapter with the turbo express?

I've had mine since launch so I'll give you my experience. First of all you will save a buttload of money by going with NiMH rechargeables. They are so cheap there's really no excuse not to use them and yes they're safe to use witt TE. I recommend Energizer NiMH 2500mAh AAs. You can get a 4pack for like $10 at Best Buy. As to your other questions, you need to buy the TE specific AC adaptor. Other adapters will not work correctly if at all and it might damage your TE too not worth the risk. The LCD screen is about 2.6" which is smaller than the GBA 2.9" screen, but the image quality is similar to the DS.

I also use NiMH rechargables. Mine are only 1600mAh though, but they last for a very long time. I've been using them for about 5 years now and they work great in the Turbo Express. You can't go wrong with them.

I think you'll be quite happy with the vibrant LCD screen on the TE. Considering it's age, the TE is still quite impressive, IMO. I don't think you'll mind the "small" screen size (now that the PSP has spoiled us) because the screen's high-resolution presents nice, detailed graphics. TANGENT: If only the Atari Lynx had a screen resolution like the TE... the Lynx would have been even kooler.

On TE's battery life: I've noticed that using headphones (as opposed to the built-in speaker) will squeeze a little extra life out of the batteries.

Was there ever a battery pack for the Turbo Express (I know there was a car adapter)? And if there is, are they hard to find and/or expensive? I'd consider getting a Turbo Express if there was.

I have a Radio Shack brand rechargable battery pack for TE, GB & Lynx. I also have a Radio Shack brand AC Adapter for TE.

The japanese version of the Turbo Express(PC Engine GT) has a rechargable battery pack, but its one of the rarer Turbo/PCE accessories and you'll be lucky to find it at any price.

Unless you plan on using it exclusively on transit, you're better off just picking up the AC & DC(Car) adapters and using rechargable batteries inbetween.
