Even after repaired, I though they were still terribly unreliable!?

As far as I can tell.. the major failure points are the lasers and the capacitors.  If you replace both of those with new items they should give a long service life!  I've only put a laser in mine and it works great!  I've got capacitors waiting until the day they start to fail.

I suspect Duo-Rs may have similar laser issues after a while too.

In general the standard Duo is not very tolerant of reading any sort of CDR (example, Meteor Blaster DX or backups you make of your more expensive games) or scratched glass mastered disc. So keep that in mind when buying
