The RX pad dpad sucks balls

It's my belief that only those who rock can appreciate the RX pad 

I posted this before in the "Who designed the PCE" thread, but there's one thing that bothers me about all of the OEM controllers. I don't like how the dpad is shifted towards the bottom of the controller. I guess it's because I have big hands, but it just makes the controllers a little uncomfortable. Everyone seems to love the Avenue 6, for example, but the dpad is just too low for me to hold it comfortably. For some reason the Avenue 3 feels amazing despite it's low dpad, and it's one of my favorite controllers. Maybe i'll mod my "PC-FX hack pad" to make the III button selectable 

Its buttons look like XTC-pills.

The PC-FX pad has a gray dpad and buttons. It looks a lot better, IMO. Still not the sexiest pad out there though.

I noticed however, the FX pad seems more responsive than the RX pad.

Not by much, but a little.

It helps that most games dont require lots of fast thumb jerking. Except for Zeroigar.

Well played Actually I don't have a blister at all. I've played through 60% of Dracula X with it, and 90% of Download the other night. Neither of which are all that demanding, granted, but I think it's fine.

Maybe you're on to something Arkhan. Does anyone have any internal shots of the RX pad? I want to compare the color of the rubber membrane. I'm pretty sure the plastic dpad itself is the same, but maybe there is a difference after all.

Maybe. The 360 has a tiny bit of free space between the plastic and rubber membrane, so putting a spacer in there makes a noticeable difference.  The FX pad (and probably the RX pad, if they ARE the same), doesn't really have any free space. You could put a paper-thin spacer in there if you wanted too, and it might do something, but it could f*ck things up as well. The rubber domes will be constantly pressed down and you'll end up hitting directions by accident.


Seriously though, doesn't anyone have pics of the inside of an RX controller? A couple of you guys have them, so could someone take it apart and take a look at it? Taking pics would be better, but at the very least we should see if the rubber membranes are the same color. That's a good way to see if they used the same parts or not.
