Neutopia help?

Okay, I feel a bit stupid posting this, but I am really stuck.  I've gotten to the water sphere on Neutopia, have picked up the shield upgrade, uncovered most (I think) of the hidden rooms, and can find both labyrinths/dungeons.  But, I have no idea what to do.  I typically prefer to figure these things out on my own, but after banging (bonking?) my head against it for weeks now I decided I should break down and ask you guys.

I'm not sure what to make of the "north is not always north" clue, and I do not know what to do in the dungeon with the old man who says "Push the red stone over there and you'll be on your way to the crypt of the medallion", where the stone in question seems to just put me back where I started.

Any help?  ^_^;

thrush, I'll give you some specifics.

The third sphere is unique in the sense that both of its crypts can only be accessed under certain conditions. For the first one, you need to "push the red block". It then appears where the compass points to. If you go there before pushing the block, the screen with the crypt doesn't have an entrance. You've probably already seen this area, and got confused when you saw the spinning compass yet no entrance. You need to go back to that screen.

"North is not always north" refers to the teleport stairs that can be found in the third sphere. If you go far north enough, you will find these stairs, and they will take you to the southern part of the map... and vice versa.
