The screenshots need a border or something to set them off from the background.

I second the HE System + Super CD-Rom logo. No PC Engine or Duo logos.

Holy shit, Paul: nice work! I really like that, and exactly as you have it, actually. It looks really authentic. True, the DUO logo takes up some space, but that's how they looked back in the day. Really, really cool.
Games I Need: Bonk 3 (HuCard), Legend of Hero Tonma, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Super Air Zonk.

Got one to sell? PM me!

I just pre-ordered. I think that the cover art looks pretty good in its current mock up form, and am really looking forward to the game!

I was thinking the same thing. Too flat as is.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Perhaps include the beautiful artwork as a lithocard inside the manual?

Or a map ala Dragon Slayer?

Of course, we don't know yet if this game is actually any good.  So if the game happens to suck, take away the screen shots entirely; because back in the day shitty games could always be identified by the lack of screenshots.  Don't break that tradition!

That would suggest that Dragon Slayer sucked......& that, good sir, is one of my favorite games ever.  You have insulted my children, & my children's children, & I challenge you to a duel of banjo's!

Seriously though, that's the first game that came to mind that, as far as I can recall, had no pic's on the back, & it's one of my fav's!

I'd be fine with the HE logo minus the "PC Engine". Here's a glorius full TTi version for all the Turbo fans:

That is the most wonderful thing I've ever seen!!!  PLEASE INCLUDE a US Duo cover version!!  Oh man, I love the way this looks!!

I'm all for a Turbob branded manual (ike nat said - this ain't a Japanese game), just don't do one like that.  Why shrink the artwork and burn up 40% of the cover with nothing?

That isn't 'nothing' its the style of the last year and a half of Duo in the US!!

It would look awfully nice sitting next to DEII, Therons Quest, Beyond Shadowgate, and M&M III.  But I can see how some might not like it.

Yeah that's a tough one. I love the Duo "borders" novelty, but the full art might work better in this case, ala Lords of Thunder.

I really like the idea of the reversible PC Engine cover, but if the instruction manual is used for the cover (as real TG16/Duo games are), then we'd be missing out on the hilarious "Have you tried these Super CD games?" page. The one thing that disappointed me about every homebrew game released to date is how this piece of Turbo nostalgia was left out! We already have three homebrew games we could list there and maybe even include upcoming releases.

Also to Nodtveidt/Arkhan/whoever else would know: is there an option to make the border of the jewel case black instead of white? I noticed Insanity had a white border like PCE (and select few US) releases did.

Whatever theme you decide, give some thought to your future releases.  I'm a big fan of a consistent format and packaging design.

I'd also like to see a black tray.  Whatever you do, don't make it clear like modern music jewel cases!

It's a nice sentiment, but I think it's better without the borders.  CD cover art is already small enough.  Even once the scuffs are fixed, the fact that I'd be looking at a scanned reproduction would always be nagging in the back of my mind.  If you want to get technical about it, Exile 2 should be the precedent for third-party, independently-distributed games from 1993.
