Need some info for a replacement part
« on: August 21, 2011, 09:33:52 AM »
Its called "D303", and its found below the motherboard, below the section where the sound hardware is.
Hope this image comes out ok:

Need some info on it, in order to buy the replacement. Its a japanese PCE Duo it says "PI-TG8" below the unit.
Thanks in advance.

that looks to be a common diode.
its very likely you have a short after it that caused its failure

Thanks thesteve:
Well, i forgot to mention that the last capacitor i replaced, one of the 100uf close to the cd drive, blew up on me twice. Seems i was conecting the negative side to the positive side. I dont know if the diode got damaged because of that, or if it was like that from before. Anyway, the unit has no problem playing hucards, but cant read cds and doesnt play any sound now.
Does anyone know what kind of diode i have to buy for replacement?

in surface mount not sure, but a 1n4001-1n4007 is a great part that will do the job

DAN114 on the diode...It's connected to C325, a 100uf.  They are part of the "anti-thump" line that turns the sound off when you first turn on the system, so you don't get a big "WHUMP" out the speakers.  However, if you're having a problem in that area, you may very well have blown transistor 308.  That would keep the sound off permanently.  If so, it's a 2SA1073.
