Well, I am now using an X-Multiply avatar.  It's not quite the same one I use on that other forum (that place requires avatars to be shrunk a little farther than this one does) but I thought it worked.

Yeah, somebody should do a homebrew port of X-Multiply.  I'd buy it!

How about an all new arcade or super CD x-multiply 2?

No, there never was a sequel to famous x-multiply :(

Imo one of irems finest game. The great dark FM bgm adds the rest.

They never did a sequel.  What I meant by "do better than Irem" is, well... part of the games appeal is just that Irem's designers had a very effed up imagination (also on display in the final level of R-Type III, and probably other places I haven't looked yet).  Call me cynical but I think any sequel done not-by-Irem would basically lose that unique flavor and be just cookie-cutter creepy.

My friends around the D&D table tell me I'm good at coming up with creepy monsters, but I've never designed a game before.

My only question for you regarding choice 1 is this: do you think it would be better for the forum if we hated each other and never agreed on anything, or would it be better if we got along great?

You guys are too much.
If anyone gets any leads on a "fair priced" copy of Coryoon, please lemme know!

Wow, I forgot to answer that question.

Ummm... I think it would be better for this forum if we DRANK BLOOD!  Yeah!

That's a fair point. I would also rather have as much involvement as possible from key staff from X-Multiply 1 if there ever were to be a sequel.

As an Irem fan, have you ever tried Eiyuu Sangokushi? It's a turn-based strategy game from Irem, based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms history.

Nope.  Just got into Irem recently, and my Japanese isn't too good.

Actually, I really wish I had better Japanese skills.  I've tried a lot of things--various tape, computer and video based courses, flash cards, even translating manga but it seems like I'm just going too slow.

Yeah, Japanese isn't a language you will master over night. Especially not on some autodidactic learning.

Ironically enough I'm probably gonna trade in my X-Multiply pcb soon.  It's a decent game, but something is just missing from it.  I feel like it was just trying too hard to be the next R-Type....  XM Stage 2 for example, looks cool but a total let down compared to R-Type Stage 3.  Sure the music is nice, but the game just isn't so much fun to play imo.

Armed Police Unit Gallop on the other hand is perfection.  One of my top favorite shooters ever.

For Irem's non-shooters, I really like the often overlooked Kengo. A neat concept with beautiful graphics.
