Welcome to the FX community.
Little Red Riding Hood shouldn't be that pricey, at least in Japan. I have this game but havn't played it. It is a board game and you need to know japanese to play it. I was waiting for the only FX translation of this game which was announced some years ago. But unfortunately the project isn't finished till now. It would be awesome if it would be finally released some day!

Zeroigar is the only available shooter for the FX. It's pricey and a pretty average shooter with nice bosses and well done intermissions.

As most games for the FX are some sort of dating sims, there are only some western-style games released which are mostly pricey.
The following games I had much fun playing them:

- Chip Chap Kick (good platformer Bubble Bobble style)
- Zeroigar (was my first game for the FX)
- Farland Story FX (nice and easy to understand strategy game)
- Dragon Knight IV (nice strategy game with adult oriented intermissions)
- Rururi Rarula (cheap looking Jump'n Run with nice intermissions and a lot of fun)
- Team Innocent (average adventure game with not so great graphics but some atmosphere)
- Zenki FX (great looking action Jump'n Run, pricey)
- Langrisser FX

BTW, I never get used to the play controls of Battle Heat and therefor I don't like it that much as most of the other people. But as it should be very cheap, probably you should give it a try. There is another game with the same game mechanics, with characters from Tengai Makayo.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

thanks for the warm welcome! gotta say i love chip chan kick- that intro went on forever! :-) as i dont have the funds to buy any games yet- im trying out various ones via dl, theyre just placeholders- i always replace them with the real thing in time.. i still havent gotten those two games i was looking for, but im sure in time i will. its too bad this system didnt catch on.. it coulda been a contender!! imagine what a falcom game wouldve looked like, or a konami game.. valis?? awesomeness!

Yup, I agree, it looks like a small pc... but I like it.  :D It looks great on my desk!

I got my copy of Zeroigar that I won off eBay a few days ago... great game! I love the anime intermissions and the ending is a satisfyingly long ending, not a "You've won! Thanks for playing!" sort of ending.

It's not a tough game to beat - you basically level up over the course of the game via points to upgrade your ship. And if a level seems to be a bit tough, you can continue and keep leveling up until you're strong enough to beat the level (it appears that in addition to new special attacks, your health and special attack meters increase as well). It is a fun experience though, with all the cutscenes and voice overs in-game. As a shoot-em-up, I felt it was ok - pretty straightforward with no "holy crap!!" moments (it felt like Soldier Blade "lite"), but it is presented well, looks great, and fun to play. Considering the power of the system it's too bad there were no other shmups for the system - this game was such a good start. Ah well... but I'm glad I have this as part of my collection.  :)

The bosses are quite nice to watch. Considering the other FX games, they look really good. Some scaling effects.
